Text: Ezekiel 6<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I. Ezekiel is to face the mountains of Israel to prophesy against them – Ezekiel 6:1-7<\/p>\n
A. It is on the mountains that idols were often worshiped.<\/p>\n
B. Similar prophesy – Micah 6:1-2<\/p>\n
C. God will destroy the idols and kill the worshipers in front of their idols.<\/p>\n
1. As prophesied – Leviticus 26:30<\/p>\n
II. A small number will not be destroyed – Ezekiel 6:8-10<\/p>\n
A. Israel could have been like Sodom and Gomorrah – Isaiah 1:9<\/p>\n
B. These will be lead away captive<\/p>\n
1. As prophesied – Leviticus 26:39<\/p>\n C. The purpose of the destruction is so that those left would remember – Zechariah\n10:9; 13:8-9\n
1. As promised – Deuteronomy 30:1-8<\/p>\n
2. Goal is to bring about repentance – Leviticus 26:40-45<\/p>\n D. God compares them to adulterous spouses who hurt the one remaining faithful to\nthe marriage.\n
E. God can be grieved by the wicked actions of men<\/p>\n
III. Ezekiel is to clap his hands and stomp his feet – Ezekiel 6:11-14<\/p>\n
A. He is illustrating God stomping out and destroying the wicked<\/p>\n
B. The judgment cannot be escaped<\/p>\n
C. Those who are distant will die of a plague<\/p>\n
D. Those who are close will die in war<\/p>\n
E. Those who escape war will die from famine<\/p>\n F. The slain will be among the idols. The false gods cannot prevent or help – Jeremiah\n8:1-2\n
G.
