<\/p>\nI. The book of Exodus takes its name from the primary story told within: The exit of the\nChildren of Israel from the land of Egypt\n A. The name comes from a transliteration of the name of the book in the Greek\nSeptuagint\n
B. It is a book written by Moses and Moses is the central figure throughout the book<\/p>\n
1. Attested to by Jesus – Mark 12:26 quoting Exodus 3:6<\/p>\n C. It begins over 400 years after Jacob and his family moved into Egypt (Exodus\n12:40-41)\n
II. There are six main events<\/p>\n
A. The Bondage of Israel – Exodus 1-2<\/p>\n
1. Slavery – Exodus 1<\/p>\n
2. The First 80 years of Moses Life – Exodus 2<\/p>\n
B. The Deliverance of Israel – Exodus 3-12<\/p>\n

C. The responsibility of sin – Exodus 32:31-35<\/p>\n
1. The justice of God – Exodus 34:6-7<\/p>\n
D. Shows that God can redeem a people for His own<\/p>\n 1. Introduces the idea that a substitute is needed, the Passover lamb – Exodus\n12:3-13\n
a. Unblemished with no bones broken<\/p>\n

IV. Types Seen in Exodus – I Corinthians 10:1-4<\/p>\n
A. The land of Egypt – A type of sin<\/p>\n
1. In bondage – Micah 6:4; Romans 6:17-18<\/p>\n
2. Saved – Jude 5<\/p>\n
B. Pharaoh – A type of Satan<\/p>\n 1. Counterfeit religion in the form of magicians who appeared to do some of\nthe miracles – II Corinthians 11:14-15; II Thessalonians 2:9-12\n
C. The children of Israel – A type of the Christian<\/p>\n
D. Moses – A type of Christ<\/p>\n
1. Had wealth but chose poverty – Hebrews 11:24-25; II Corinthians 8:9<\/p>\n
2. But Christ had the greater glory – Hebrews 3:1-6<\/p>\n
3. Miracles to prove his message was from God<\/p>\n
4. Brought to being a new law – Joshua 8:31-32; Galatians 6:2<\/p>\n
E. The Passover – A type of the crucifixion<\/p>\n
