We may disagree, but it doesn’t matter, so long as we get to heaven

Question:

I disagree with some of your answers, but it doesn't matter. You have your own beliefs. Some people believe music and dancing is a sin. Who am I to argue with them? Whatever gets them to heaven.

Answer:

Your statement indicates that you don't believe there is a right or wrong, except as each individual perceives right and wrong. If you take this to its logical conclusion, then you are arguing that God will accept anyone so long as they don't condemn themselves by their own beliefs. Therefore, God no longer is seen as the standard of authority but man. Well did Isaiah ask: "Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; For shall the thing made say of him who made it, "He did not make me"? Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it, "He has no understanding"?" (Isaiah 29:16).

Jesus sternly warned, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'" (Matthew 7:21-23). The word "lawlessness" (or often translated "iniquity") is a Greek word that means acting without authority. Jesus stated that there would be people who would acknowledge him and had done good deeds in His name, but who would be rejected because they acted without authority. Just because I think something is good, it does not follow that God must accept my conclusion. God must tell me what I need to do and I must conform my life to the will of God.

God's teaching is not up for debate. It cannot be altered by the whims of individuals. "I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ" (Galatians 1:6-10). Any change from the original is to be rejected. Anyone advocating changes from the original has placed himself under a curse. This can only occur when we realize that truth is absolute and not relative to each person.

What you believe or what I believe doesn't matter because our personal beliefs will not get either of us to heaven. The only thing that matters is what God wants. We must come to understand it and conform to His standard. "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, whether good or evil" (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).
