Are girl-girl relationships condemned?

Question:

What can you say about girl/girl relationships? Is it a sin and an abomination to the Lord? Did the Bible say anything about it?

Answer:

God's teaching clearly condemns girl-girl (lesbian) sexual relationships along with boy-boy (homosexual) relationships. "For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due" (Romans 1:26-27).

The phrase "natural use" comes from the Greek phrase phusikos chresis, which can also be translated as instinctive employment. Here the natural employment of the body is for sexual acts between a man and a woman. The human body is designed for sexual acts to take place between a man and a woman. Sexual acts between two women or two men are unnatural and are called "vile passions," "shameful," and "error."

Homosexuality was a rampant problem in Greek society during the first century. This particular sin has reared its ugly head once again in our time. Though it is not popular, Christians must stand firm that it is a sin that will keep its participants out of heaven. "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God" (I Corinthians 6:9-11).
