Your story was filled with half truths. PETA exist not because people eat animals; but because people kill animals sinfully.
Do you think God wanted our meat packaging companies to use a .45 to shoot a cow in the head before hanging them upside down, slicing their necks and letting them bleed to death? You think Jesus would eat at McDonalds because of what the Old Testament says? We are completely different people from the Jesus days. Understand that first.
Life was different when it was a necessity to eat meat or use animals for clothing. God has blessed us with wisdom in which we misuse only to get what we want. You read and follow the Bible verses that allow you to live the way you want.
I am a vegetarian and a Christian. Is that blasphemous? How about the "Christian" man who hunts for fun, not for survival? Is it ok to use the bible verses outlined in your article to justify his reason? Picking and choosing Bible verses and using them as a license to sin is a better title for your article.
You forgot to mention that sacraficing of animals was necessary in the old testament. Jesus was our saving grace, he is our ticket into heaven. NOT burnt offerings.
Furthermore, you should do a LOT of reading. NONE OF OUR BEEF IS CLEAN.
Answer:To animal rights activists, such as PETA and yourself, there is no way to kill an animal for food that is deemed acceptable. Thus, you are being hypocritical in your claim that your stance is about some imagined cruelty to animals. If the method bothers you so much, shall we go back to hunting with bows and spears as was done in former days? But then animals were raised for eating as well. They too were killed and butchered for food. Would everyone raising or purchasing live animals for processing at home make it more acceptable to you? ... I thought not.
The argument that people today are different is also false. " Is there anything of which it may be said, "See, this is new"? It has already been in ancient times before us. There is no remembrance of former things, Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come By those who will come after" (Ecclesiastes 1:10-11).
It is hilarious that you claim I'm picking and choosing verses to only get the answers I want. It is clear to anyone that it is you who avoids many passages in the Bible that refers to meat eating. I'm teaching the whole Bible.
Worse, you stand condemned before the Lord Almighty as you sit in ignorance judging His Holy Word. "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20). To call sinful what God has called to be thanked is the height of arrogance. "Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer" (I Timothy 4:1-5). To condemn others for following the teachings of God is to condemn the law of God. "There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?" (James 4:12).
If a person choose to be a vegetarian, God gives them that right to choose. But they do not have the right to demand that others live according their own self-imposed restrictions.
